Trustee Board
The Dundee District Trustee Board plays a vital behind-the-scenes role in making sure everything runs smoothly, safely, and legallyโso that young people can enjoy the best possible Scouting experience. Here are the key responsibilities:
Core Responsibilities
- Governance & Strategy: Set the strategic direction and ensure the charity is well-managed and compliant with the law and Scout policies.
- Financial Oversight: Approve budgets, manage reserves, ensure proper accounting, and oversee fundraising and Gift Aid claims.
- Risk Management: Maintain a risk register, ensure appropriate insurance, and put safety measures in place for people, property, and equipment.
- Compliance: Ensure adherence to safeguarding, data protection, equality, and other key policies outlined in the Scoutsโ Policy, Organisation and Rules (POR).
- Support for Volunteers: Champion a positive volunteering culture, support recruitment and induction of new Trustees, and ensure effective administration.
- Property & Assets: Oversee maintenance, legal ownership, and insurance of buildings and equipment.
- Annual Reporting: Prepare and approve the Trusteesโ Annual Report and Statement of Accounts, and submit them to the relevant charity regulator if required.
