2. Purpose and Benefit

This volunteering experience offers company employees the chance to:

  • Contribute to the upkeep and development of a key local community resource.
  • Engage in meaningful, practical work such as site maintenance, painting, gardening, or small construction.
  • Understand and support the work of Scouting in the Dundee area.
  • Build teamwork and corporate social responsibility.

3. Supervision and Safety

  • Supervision Provided By: Dundee District Scout Property Service Team or designated site leads.
  • All volunteers will be given a safety induction and a site tour upon arrival.
  • A qualified First Aider will be on-site.
  • Volunteers will be supervised at all times during high-risk tasks.
  • Safety gear and tools will be provided where necessary.
  • Volunteers must comply with all safety instructions and wear appropriate clothing.

4. Safeguarding & Child Protection

  • The event is structured to ensure no unsupervised contact with young people.
  • If young people are present (e.g. during a parallel Scout event), they will be under supervision by appropriately cleared Scout Leaders.
  • All volunteers will be briefed on expected conduct and boundaries.

5. Insurance & Risk Management

  • The Scout Associationโ€™s insurance policy covers events run on Scout premises for approved activities.
  • Company employees should confirm whether they are also covered under their organisationโ€™s Employer Liability or Volunteering Insurance.
  • A risk assessment for all planned activities will be available in advance and reviewed on the day.

6. Medical and Emergency Information

  • All volunteers should provide any relevant medical details or emergency contact information to their coordinator in advance.
  • A first aid station will be clearly marked on site.
  • Emergency evacuation procedures will be explained during induction.

7. Accessibility and Facilities

  • Toilets, shelter, and refreshments are available on site.
  • Volunteers should bring a packed lunch, unless otherwise arranged.
  • The site has limited indoor space โ€“ please dress appropriately for outdoor work.
  • Parking is available on site.

8. Consent and Participation

By attending the event, employees confirm they:

  • Are participating voluntarily.
  • Have read and understood the safety briefing.
  • Will follow the direction of the designated site leaders.
  • Have disclosed any medical conditions or accessibility needs.
